God Bless America

An album of patriotic American pop songs (you say what now?) has gone to number one in the US charts. The compilation, called God Bless America, includes tracks by Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and Mariah Carey and sold more than 180,000 copies in its first week of release. Oh my god, talk about cashing in!

A change in the tastes of the music-buying public has been credited with making rousing or soothing songs (this is my rifle, this is my gun, this is for shooting this is for fun) more popular.

"It's hard to think of a time in the last 20 to 30 years where there has been such a wide embrace of patriotism," laughed Geoff Mayfield, charts director at Billboard magazine. He went on to snigger and say, "Certainly there has been a change of mood as a result of what happened that day."

"Well I can’t believe this bull shit, if they really wanted to be patriotic then they should give all that money they are making to charity", stated a drunk very coherently.
