Wow, this looks good!
No, for a change I'm not joking. The legendary and rather big-headed Paul McCartney has organised a concert in New York City for October 20th at Madison Square Garden. Famous people you can expect to see there are, U2's Bono and the Edge, David Bowie, Elton John, Destiny's Child and Janet Jackson. Although I'm not the biggest fan of either of these people, I will be singing along with them when they do "So-Long, So-Long, Goodbye" to Binladen.
These tele-performers have joined a line up that already included such stars as, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, The Who, Melissa Etheridge, Billy Joel, the Backstreet Boys, John Mellencamp, Macy Gray and others who aren't so great, along with McCartney. Paul Shaffer will serve as musical director, so now we can all be assured that it will be great.
Bill Gates just opened up his chequebook to get that old dog "Madonna" to get the rights to "Ray of Light" as the soundtrack to Microsoft's new Windows XP ad campaign. I would just like to say that this song blows like a cheap snow machine and should not be played any more than it already has.
Neither Microsoft nor Madonna's camp is saying anything about dollars. However sources state that it's probably at least in the same range as the reported $14 million the Rolling Stones banked in 1995 when they let Gates and company use "Start Me Up" for the Windows 95 campaign.
Finally, Microsoft would only say the company is spending $200 million over four months to advertise the latest version of Windows. Well I think we now where the lions share will be going.
Well that's it, except that today is the official launch date for the site. We have had more problems than a Hyper-condriac could think of in a year but we are ready to say "Hello World" like some other one hit wonder once did.
